  • JOB PURPOSE

    The incumbent will assume the role of managing the warehouse operations and will be entirely responsible for the full scope of operations in the warehouse as defined by senior management. This position will report to the Director of Logistics.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES
    • The incumbent will be expected to work in an efficient and proactive manner, ensuring that all areas of work are completed accurately, on time with the approach of continuous improvement at all times.
    • Ensure all staff remain motivated, encouraged, trained, mentored and coached to reach the best in class service and efficiency standards.
    • All reporting is expected to be accurate and delivered in a professional manner and on time.
    • Create and gain approval for new methods and systems to improve efficiency within the warehouse operation.
    • Ensure all operations staff are briefed and trained and understand all operations policies, procedures, standards and performance measurements.
    • Ensure that all employees, full time or otherwise, are accounted for, are allocated tasks within planned and efficient roster systems, that these shifts encapsulate the entire commercial and operational needs of the business.
    • Monitor the performance levels in operations to set and agreed targets. Highlight to senior management when incidents and delays occur outside of your control, suggest and encourage corrective action and ensure these are documented.
    • Manage the team to meet the agreed expected quality measures, suggest improvements and highlight serious issues to Senior Management whilst using your initiative to improve and resolve immediately recognized issues.
    • Ensure agreed initiatives in operations are introduced according to the plans, timings set and for reports to be submitted as agreed.
    • Monitor all company owned leased equipment to ensure efficient, cost effective operation.
    • Comply with all Group and written policies in relation to safety at work.
    Qualifications / experience / knowledge
    • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or relevant Logistics, Supply Chain qualification.
    • Minimum Experience: Five (5) + years working in freight forwarding industry, preferably in a senior position within a Blue Chip organization.
    Required attributes & skills
    • Excellent working knowledge of WMS, TMS systems, with a high level of MS Office capability.
    • Advanced planning and manpower (roster/shift) management skills.
    • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken with a 2nd language preferred.
    • Evidence of experience leading a high performing multicultural, diverse workforce.
    • A self-starter with the personal attributes to create and develop a strong and motivational team spirit through a clearly communicated and transparent style of leadership.
